Do you accept book submissions from local or independent authors?

Yes! We’re always happy to hear from local and independent authors who are interested in having their books considered for Whistler’s Daughter. We value our local creative community and appreciate you thinking of our shop.

How do I submit my book for consideration?

All book submissions must be made through our Book Submission Form. This helps us review requests fairly and efficiently. We’re not able to review submissions made in person, by phone, or via social media.

Question 3

How many submissions do you receive?

We receive dozens of book submissions each week. While we wish we could say yes to every title, our shelf space and staff capacity are limited, so we must be selective in what we carry.

Question 4

What kinds of books are you most likely to carry?

We prioritize books that:

• Align with the mission, vision, and values of our store
 • Are a strong fit for our existing customer base
 • Are professionally produced and well-edited
 • Are available through standard wholesale terms
 • Have a clear audience and sales potential in our shop

Being a local author is a plus, but it does not guarantee placement.

Do you accept self-published books?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We carry self-published titles on a case-by-case basis, provided they meet our quality, fit, and logistical requirements. We only carry self-published titles that are available through traditional book distributors, e.g., Alibris, Ingram, Independent Publishers Group, etc.

Do you offer consignment?

We do not currently offer consignment for book inventory.

Question 7

How long does the review process take?

Our review process typically takes 2-4 weeks. Due to the volume of submissions, we may not be able to respond to every request individually.

Question 8

Will I receive feedback if my book is declined?

While we read every submission carefully, we’re not able to provide individual feedback on all titles. A decision not to move forward is usually based on fit, timing, or space—not the quality of the work. If you haven’t heard back from us within the timeline outlined above, this means we are not able to move forward with your title at this time.

What does “revisit later” mean?

A “revisit later” decision means that while we’re not able to carry the book right now, we may be open to reconsidering it in the future. This could be due to seasonality, upcoming releases, added publicity, or changes in our inventory needs.

If my book is accepted, what happens next?

If we decide to move forward, we’ll contact you directly to discuss ordering details, pricing, availability, and any potential opportunities for events or collaborations.

Can I drop off a copy of my book at the store?

Yes! Provided you have already filled out the book submission form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfnk0a3UThP98zjCK7ThZ1cXRT4gf0Tz2SYSiRjKozcBkFfEA/viewform?usp=dialog)online, you can mail or drop off a review copy at the address below:

Please note that Whistler’s Daughter cannot pay for review copies and we will not return physical review copies mailed or dropped off at our store.
