Artist Collaborations

You may have already guessed this from the name of our shop (a nod to the iconic painting Whistler's Mother and our family ties to the original artist), but our family has a deep love and appreciation for art in its myriad forms, not just literature. The Ferndale arts community is flourishing and we're always looking for opportunities to support local artists by displaying and selling their art in our space, hosting artist receptions, sharing their work across our social media platforms, and more.

Before submitting your request, please note:

• We are a small venue with limited wall space, shelf space, lighting, etc. Depending on the artwork, you may need to provide temporary display materials for the duration of the collaboration. You may also need to bring in your own ladder and/or tools to set up your art.

• We offer collaborations for a minimum of two weeks up to one month at a time, with an opportunity to extend the collaboration on a case-by-case basis.

• Whistler's Daughter sells your artworks on a commission basis only. We do not purchase your art outright. Our commission is 25% of the artist's retail price.

• After-hours events such as an artist meet-and-greet or opening reception may incur a fee based on staffing and setup needs; any fees will be discussed and agreed upon in advance.

• Collaboration requests should be submitted at least 60 days in advance to allow us to prepare for and publicize the artists' tenure at WDB.

• Whistler's Daughter is an inclusive space, and we strive to open our store to diverse and marginalized individuals and communities. The application includes some questions about how you identify, but these are optional and will not negatively affect your application if left blank. 

• While we review all submissions, we may not be able to respond to every request. If your art is a good fit, we’ll reach out directly.

• If you haven’t heard from us within 15 days, we’re unfortunately not the right venue for your event. Please do not email, call, or visit the store directly regarding event requests.
